OpTecBB's objective is to bundle and network the scientific and industrial potential, which exists in the capital region of Germany - Berlin-Brandenburg - in the field of optical technologies. Further objectives are to initiate and stimulate co-operations between partners in the region. This takes place in technologically orientated main points of emphasis like laser technologies, optical components, UV and X-ray technologies and in special fields of applications: biomedical optics, optical technologies for transport and space programmes, optical technologies for the Internet. OpTecBB offers also a platform for international contacts.
OpTecBB was established in 2000 and has at present more than 90 members including more than 50 companies.
OpTecBB is funded by the Federal Ministry of Education and Research.
